It has been rumored that Apple is preparing a third-generation model of the low-priced iPhone SE series, but it is rumored that it will be released in the first quarter of 2022. Generally, the first quarter refers to the period from April to June (although it is from October to December for Apple), so it seems to mean the release around the end of March.
According to Taiwanese research firm TrendForce, Apple plans to launch the third-generation iPhone SE in 1Q22 (the first quarter of 2022). Furthermore, it is stated that the new iPhone SE will support 5G while remaining in the midrange position.
According to TrendForce, the third-generation iPhone SE is expected to be the primary means for Apple to gain a solid position in the mid-range 5G smartphone market. Production is projected to reach 25-30 million units by 2022.
Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst who is familiar with Apple's unreleased products, said that the new iPhone SE has a 4.7-inch LCD screen, a home button with built-in Touch ID, a thick bezel, etc. I expected it to be. It looks the same as the previous model, but it is 5G compatible and will have a faster processor (probably the same A15 Bionic as the iPhone 13).
On the other hand, there are rumors that a large version of the iPhone SE is also under development, but it is expected that it will be released after 2023 based on the iPhone XR.
The first iPhone SE was released in March 2016 and will be discontinued in September 2018. The 2nd generation model was released in April 2020 and is still on sale, but recently it was added to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' "Technical Incompatibility Equipment" list along with the iPhone 13 series.
