The world's first water air united drone, a remote underwater shooting | 2021 | KDDI Co., Ltd.

On November 17, 2021, KDDI, KDDI Research Institute, and Prodele have succeeded in providing the world's first water air united drone (Note 1) autonomously and photographing the underwater state remotely (hereinafter referred to as this demonstration). did.

The water air combined drone is a drone in which air drones and underwater drones can fly in the sky and dive into the water.It is also compatible with mobile communication, and can transmit autonomous flights, remote control, and images of air and underwater cameras.In addition, the acoustic positioning device allows dive and shooting while checking location information even underwater where the satellite usage position (GPS) cannot be used.

In this demonstration, a water aircraft united drone was used, and underwater photography was conducted in assuming a survey of seaweeds (hereinafter referred to as offshore wind power) and survey of seaweed barrels that will be the reefs.In the conventional underwater shooting, a large ship was taken out each time, and a diver dive into the water.With this reality, we succeeded in shooting safely and efficiently with a water air united drone, so we can expect costs and time reduction in the future.
