From around last year, aerial images taken by radio-controlled helicopters are rapidly gaining citizenship. To tell the truth, the NAB Show, the world's largest video equipment exhibition, has been exhibiting aerial photography by quadcopters for a few years, but in Japan it is still used around me. I didn't hear about it, so I didn't cover it.
Phantom2 Vision +Compared to the so-called two-rotor helicopter, many hobby models have been released, saying that quadcopters with four rotors are easier to handle. On the other hand, there are models with 6 or 8 rotors for larger cameras that can be equipped with cameras to increase stability and to mount heavier cameras. Helicopters and octacopters are called differently according to the number of each, but those with two or more rotors are collectively called multicopters. The simplest structure among multicopters is the quadcopter.
The 8-rotor model "S1000" exhibited at "CP + 2014" in February. Aerial photography is possible with 5D Mark II / IIIIt seems that the term "drone" is more established overseas. However, the etymology is the nuance of an unmanned pilot, and I feel the nuances of large aircraft such as those for military use. Furthermore, not only aircraft but also autopilot vehicles running on the ground can enter the drone, so it is wide. In Japan, "quadcopter" is synonymous with the so-called radio-controlled helicopter for aerial photography.
DJI's "Phantom 2" has been used for many aerial photography and occupies the position of "standard machine" of the quadcopter. A GoPro gimbal (a mechanism that corrects shaking and tilting) is attached to this, and the camera is hung up for shooting.
However, this set requires you to install the gimbal yourself. It can be said that it is a kind of remodeling because the wiring is also tampered with. Also, since you need to purchase GoPro separately and adjust the balance, it is a high hurdle for people who have never tampered with radio-controlled helicopters to suddenly buy and challenge.
The "Phantom2 Vision +" (P2V) model was launched in June with the gimbal and camera attached to the Phantom2 as a base for "easier aerial photography". It is 148,500 yen on Amazon.
Since the camera cannot be changed with the original model, the image quality is also a concern. This time, as the catchphrase says, "Anyone can easily fly", I actually rented the aircraft and decided to fly it myself.
I've played so-called toy-class quadcopters before, so I understand how to fly them, but this is the first time I've dealt with such a large model. Is it possible to fly well even at such a level? Let's give it a try.
